Easter Sunday:

More Than Just Brunch – A Day of Reflection, Friendship, and Unexpected Indulgence 🥳

Easter Sunday. A day that holds special meaning in so many cultures and hearts. For some, it's the pinnacle of the Christian faith, the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, a symbol of hope and new beginnings. For others, it's a welcome spring day filled with family traditions, colorful eggs, and the sweet scent of chocolate. And for still others, like me yesterday, it was a wonderful blend of profound reflection and exuberant joy with dear friends.

Let me take you on a little journey through my Easter Sunday, which turned out quite differently than I might have quietly imagined, and was all the more unforgettable because of it.

The morning began quietly and expectantly. Around 9:00 AM, Penky and I set off for the Riverside International Church in Cascais. Even on the way there, you could feel a special atmosphere. The air was fresh, the sun peeked through the still-tender leaves of the trees, and a feeling of peace and tranquility hung in the air. Arriving at the church, we were warmly welcomed. It was lovely to see the rows filling up, people of different nationalities and backgrounds coming together to celebrate this special day.

And then the wonderful surprise: we ran into friends from the Filipino community in the Lisbon metropolitan area! The joy was great, the hugs were heartfelt. It's always touching to experience how faith and community can connect people across all borders.

The service itself was a true treat for the soul. The worship band was simply fantastic. Their music filled the room with life and emotion, swept us away, and lifted our prayers and thoughts. It was an atmosphere of unity and deep faith that moved me deeply. Afterward, Pastor Eddie found time for some very personal prayers with members of the congregation. These moments of individual attention and spiritual exchange were particularly impressive and made the service truly special. You could feel how much the well-being of each individual was close to his heart.

Following the spiritual nourishment came a completely different, but no less wonderful, part of the day: a visit to the Fogo de Chao Cascais restaurant in the Auchan Mall. Anyone familiar with this restaurant knows it's a paradise for meat lovers. A lavish all-you-can-eat buffet beckoned with the most tempting delicacies. And there we sat, a cheerful group of friends, fully enjoying the variety and flavor of Brazilian cuisine.

My Filipino friends, in particular, were in their element. Their appreciation for good food is well-known, and their enthusiasm was contagious. There was laughter, storytelling, and feasting as if there were no tomorrow. The atmosphere was lively and joyful, a wonderful contrast to the reflective mood of the church service, yet in its own way a celebration of life and community.

And me? Well, I must confess that I couldn't quite escape the culinary abundance either. The "all you can eat" promise was definitely taken seriously by me. 🙈 The delicacies were simply too tempting! But don't worry, the reckoning for this delightful "sin" is already planned: intermittent fasting, extra laps around the block, and some additional planks will ensure that the balance is restored in the coming days. 💪

This Easter Sunday was more than just the celebration of the Resurrection. It was a day of encounters, friendship, shared laughter, and enjoyment. It wonderfully showed me how spiritual depth and worldly joy can harmoniously connect.

The meaning of Easter extends far beyond colorful eggs and chocolate bunnies. It is a festival of hope, new beginnings, and the victory of life over death. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith and reminds us that even in the darkest moments, there is always the possibility of rebirth and renewal.

But Easter is also a time of community. It's an opportunity to come together with our loved ones, spend time with each other, and share the simple joys of life. Yesterday's gathering with my friends, both in church and during the subsequent meal, beautifully illustrated this for me. The connection we shared, the conversations, and the heartfelt laughter made this day so special.

The Easter message of hope and new beginnings can also be applied to our daily lives. It reminds us that we always have the opportunity to start anew, shed old burdens, and focus on the positive. Just as Jesus rose again, we too can emerge stronger from difficult times and embark on new paths.

Yesterday, in its diversity, mirrored life itself: moments of deep reflection alternated with moments of exuberant joy. The spiritual nourishment of the church service found its complement in the physical sustenance of the brunch. And in the midst of it all was the valuable experience of friendship and community.

I take away many beautiful memories from this Easter Sunday. The powerful music in the church, the moving prayers, the warm reunion with friends, and the shared feasting – all of this made the day special. And even if my sporting activities will be a bit more intense in the coming days, every single calorie yesterday was worth every single moment of joy. 😊

Easter is more than just a single day. It's a time of pausing, reflection, and gratitude. It's a reminder of what truly matters in life: faith, hope, love, and the valuable relationships with the people who surround us.

With that in mind, I wish you all a blessed Easter Monday, full of new possibilities and the hope that this special holiday carries within it. Let us keep the joy and the message of the Resurrection in our hearts and carry it into our everyday lives. And maybe, just maybe, we'll treat ourselves to a slightly lighter dinner tonight. 😉 Happy Easter! 🌷🕊️☀️
