Introduction
From August 4th to 8th, my fiancée Penky and I had the pleasure of embarking on a house and petsitting adventure in the picturesque coastal town of Cascais, Portugal. Known for its stunning beaches, charming streets, and historical landmarks, Cascais provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable stay. In this blog, we’ll share our experiences walking the family dog, visiting the mystical Boca de Inferno, and exploring the impressive Cascais Marina. πΆππ‘
Day 1: Arrival and First Walk with the Dog
Arrival in Cascais
Our journey began with our arrival in Cascais, a town just a short train ride from Lisbon. As soon as we entered the house, we were warmly greeted by the family dog, a playful Labrador named Max. Max seemed as excited about our stay as we were. πΎ
The First Walk
After settling in and taking a short break, it was time for our first walk with Max. Our destination was the nearby Marechal Carmona Park, a beautiful, green space with many walking paths, shady trees, and even a small lake. Max loved exploring the new scents and playing with other dogs, while we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and fresh air. π³π
Day 2: Visit to Boca de Inferno
Morning Walk and Breakfast
The second day began with a refreshing morning walk along the coast. Max and we walked on a scenic path that offered breathtaking views of the sea. After our walk, we returned home and enjoyed a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit and local pastries. π₯π
Trip to Boca de Inferno
In the afternoon, we headed to Boca de Inferno, an impressive rock formation on the coast known for its wild waves and thundering sounds. The "Mouth of Hell" is a true natural spectacle. Max was fascinated by the crashing waves while we took the opportunity to snap some stunning photos. πΈπ
Day 3: Exploring Cascais Marina
Relaxing Morning
After the exciting trip to Boca de Inferno, Max and we enjoyed a relaxing morning at home. We took the time to read some books and enjoy the tranquility of the garden while Max rested in the grass. πβοΈ
Visit to Cascais Marina
In the afternoon, it was time to visit the famous Cascais Marina. The marina is not just a harbor for luxury yachts but also a lively spot with many restaurants, cafés, and shops. Max and we strolled along the promenade, admiring the boats and sparkling water. We stopped at a cozy café for a refreshment before heading back home. β΅πΉ
Day 4: Beach Day and Evening Walk
Morning at the Beach
The fourth day was perfect for a beach visit. Cascais offers some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, and we chose Praia da Rainha, a small but lovely beach near the town center. Max loved digging in the sand and splashing in the shallow water. It was a delightful morning full of sun and fun. ποΈπ
Evening Walk through Cascais
In the evening, we took a walk through the old town of Cascais. The cobblestone streets and charming houses with colorful tiles made the walk a special experience. We dined at a traditional Portuguese restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh fish and seafood. π½οΈπ
Day 5: Farewell and Last Adventures
Picnic in the Park
Our last day in Cascais began as usual with a morning walk. This time, we packed a picnic and headed to Marechal Carmona Park. The park, with its expansive green areas and quiet corners, was the perfect place to enjoy our final hours in Cascais. We spread our blanket under a shady tree and enjoyed a tasty picnic of fresh fruit, cheese, and bread. Max played in the grass and took naps in the shade while we soaked up the peaceful atmosphere. ππ§π₯
Remote Work
A special highlight of our time in Cascais was the ability to work remotely at my main job. This made our stay financially pleasant while allowing us to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings. The flexible working hours gave us the freedom to explore the town during the day and fulfill our professional duties in the evening. π»π
Last Explorations
After packing and preparing for departure, Max and we had a bit more time for one last walk on the beach. We enjoyed the final rays of sunshine and the soothing sea breeze. It was the perfect end to an unforgettable adventure in Cascais. ππ΄
