Hello Digital Nomads 50+ Community,
We’d like to introduce ourselves: We’re Bodo and Penky, a German-Filipino couple currently based in the Lisbon metro area.
Bodo is currently working as an Associated Network Engineer for a well-known company in Lisbon. Originally, he was an international construction site manager, leading projects worldwide. Unfortunately, due to a shoulder injury, he had to give up his self-employed career. His last stint was in Switzerland before we moved to Portugal.
Penky is a seasoned nanny and nurse with extensive international experience in Thailand, Malaysia, Switzerland, and now Portugal. Her diverse skill set and empathy have enabled her to thrive in various cultures and countries.
Despite the job opportunities here, we’ve realized that Lisbon and Portugal haven’t lived up to our expectations. We find the city unappealing and the lifestyle here not as inviting as we hoped.
So, we’re planning a big move next year—to Penky’s homeland, the Philippines. We’re excited about the new adventures and challenges that await us there. Our goal is to continue our nomadic lifestyle, leveraging our flexible careers to explore and experience new places.
We’re looking forward to connecting with like-minded folks in this group who are also keen on exploring the world, even in our golden years. If any of you have experience in the Philippines or tips to share, we’d love to hear from you.
