PhD in Gospel Music

Dear readers,

I am delighted to share with you today a significant milestone in my musical journey. On November 30, 2023, I received my PhD in Gospel Music. This moment marks not only the culmination of a long academic journey but also the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

My musical journey began in my youth, when I completed professional training as a musician in popular music and jazz in the GDR (German Democratic Republic). The diversity of musical styles I encountered during this time shaped my passion for music and opened up new creative horizons.

However, after my training, I turned to engineering and pursued a career in that field. Despite my professional commitments, music remained an integral part of my life. Every second Sunday of the month, I taught music in the Filipino church community in Cascais. This experience was not only an opportunity to share my musical skills but also a source of inspiration and personal growth.

The decision to pursue my PhD in Gospel Music stemmed from a deep desire to combine my passion for music with academic research. Gospel music, with its powerful message and unique cultural significance, has always fascinated me. Through my research, I was able to explore not only the historical and cultural roots of gospel music but also its transformative power in various communities around the world.

Achieving my PhD in Gospel Music was a moment of joy and gratitude, not only for myself but also for those who supported me on this journey. My family, friends, and mentors accompanied me through their support and encouragement through the highs and lows of this journey, and I am endlessly grateful to them for it.

As I received my PhD in Gospel Music, I felt a deep gratitude for music and the people who shared it with me. This journey has taught me that music is not only a form of entertainment but also a powerful force of expression, healing, and connection.

I look forward to exploring the next chapters of my musical journey and continuing to inspire and touch people through the power of music.
